Motivating others starts with motivating yourself. Positive energy is very contagious; if you’re enthusiastic about reaching your goals, it’s much easier for others to be too. People are more disposed to respond to us if we are positive, and they avoid anyone broadcasting negativity. Positive thinking is a mental attitude that admits thoughts, words, and images that are conductive to growth, expansion, and success. Whatever the mind expects, it finds.
The highest purpose of a leader is to help people see themselves more accurately in light of their strengths, preferably strengths of which they are unaware or uncertain. We have strengths that others may not have, but they have strengths and skills that we have not mastered. These are the skills we want to bring to light when motivating others.
